KCGM Introduces Zero Emission Vehicles

KCGM continues to display its commitment to the environment by purchasing zero emission vehicles for its Fimiston Mill.

The vehicles are part of an effort to build an environmentally friendly fleet of support vehicles, which started with the purchase of four Prius hybrids in 2012.

KCGM General Manager, Russell Cole said the vehicles will replace some of the traditional vehicles used in the Fimiston Mill.

“The new vehicles are zero emission, electric utility vehicles that have solar charged batteries. They will replace some of the diesel vehicles operating in the Mill,” he said.

“We are always looking at ways to continually improve. These vehicles are not only more efficient and economical, but they are also better for the environment.”

The vehicles’ all-aluminum chassis do not rust and are light-weight, resulting in a longer battery life and cheaper running costs. With a carrying capacity of more than 500kg they have more than enough room and power to carry all the tools of the trade.
