Maintenance Technician - Fitter

THE ROLE

A unique opportunity now exists to join the KCGM Assets team. This 5:2 residential role will see you carrying out preventative, planned and breakdown mechanical maintenance for the KCGM Fimiston and Gidji circuits to ensure optimum operating conditions are achieved, with ongoing efficiency and reliability. There is also a 4:4 shift roster role available which focus primarily on breakdown work.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two (2) years mechanical maintenance experience – Mine site-based beneficial
  • Nationally Accredited Trades Certificate in Mechanical Fitting and/or Fitter Machining
  • High Risk Work Licences (eg LF, WP, DG, RA)
  • Confined Space and Working at Heights qualifications – valid within the last two (2) years
  • Demonstrated intermediate level of computer literacy
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Underground Mine Superintendent

THE ROLE

We have a residential opportunity based at KCGM’s Mt Charlotte Mine in Kalgoorlie. The purpose of the Underground Mine Superintendent role is to efficiently manage and lead the Mt Charlotte underground production and technical services to ensure that all targets are achieved in a coordinated, cost effective, timely and safe manner.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Develop and monitor strategic plans, Life of Mine (LOM) contributions and operating/capital/resourcing budgets to ensure continual development of Mt Charlotte and an increase in production efficiency.
  • Leading the preparation of Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) to justify operating and capital expenditure required to sustain and increase Mt Charlotte’s productivity and to gain approval from the Joint Venture representatives.
  • Review and report daily, weekly, monthly on the production performance of the Mt Charlotte underground operation to the Mine Manager to ensure that the General Manager, Joint Venture representatives and other key internal stakeholders are appropriately informed.
  • Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring and developmental activities to members of Mt Charlotte driving a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Core Values.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A minimum of ten (10) years underground mining experience, including at least five (5) years at middle management in a similarly sized operation or a senior leadership level within a larger operation
  • Current unencumbered West Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence
  • Current unrestricted First Class Managers Certificate of Competency
  • Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, cost management and contract management
  • Experience in performance management of team members enhancing team self esteem using ability to coach, mentor and influence others and ability to build a strong performing team
  • Excellent understanding of mining law and industrial relations
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by strategically thinking

Maintenance Technician - Electrician

THE ROLE

An exciting residential opening is now available for an enthusiastic Electrician to join our KCGM Operations. This essential position will see you performing preventative and ongoing breakdown electrical maintenance to the Mineral Processing plant to ensure the plant continues to function at optimum gold production levels. In addition, this position will see you working predominately a Monday to Friday roster, promoting work/life balance with 5 weeks annual leave per annum.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two (2) years electrical maintenance experience in a mining environment
  • Australian “A” Grade Electrical Licence and/or endorsed Electrical Fitter/Electrician qualification.
  • Certificate IV in Instrumentation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Telemetry Control Systems.
  • Intermediate computer skills, in particular Microsoft Office, Word.
  • Experience in the generation and recording of Work Orders.
  • Experience in the generation of Job Hazard Assessments (JHA’s) and safety observations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills.

Mechanical Engineer

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Projects and Engineering team in our Assets Department. The role is based on site at KCGM in Kalgoorlie. If you have a Mechanical Engineering background, strong project management experience in mining we want to hear from you.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Assist in the tender, review and award of contracts to ensure project scope is accurately defined and contractual agreements are in line with site requirements.
  • Undertake Project Control Management with the assistance of the Projects Control Officer for all allocated assignments to ensure the attainment of engineering objectives within established Australian and Company Standards and specifications , as well as scheduling constraints.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests, conceptual designs, technical feasibility studies and budget estimations for proposed projects, to ensure project requirements and constraints are accurately reflected.
  • Maintain liaison with electrical, integrity or other engineering design teams on site and provide input into projects that often require multiple disciplines of engineering.
  • Manage the project workload; to ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget to the KCGM and Australian Standards.
  • Upon completion of allocated projects, ensure that handover is completed and that the internal customer has all requirements met and all project documentation is completed.
  • Undertake invoice reconciliations and project cost accruals as required to ensure associated project expenditure is accurately accounted for.
  • Ensure all KPIs and any weekly/monthly reports are updated as required for the active projects being managed.
  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel and contractors comply with all aspects of KCGM’s policies and procedures to ensure personnel undertake work in a safe and effective manner. This includes organising KCGM supervisors for all contracting groups working on or around site.
  • Ensure that all relevant mechanical standards are current and reviewed on a regular basis, and approve site mechanical drawings, as required to ensure they meet site and Australian standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in a similar role within the resources sector.
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical and civil/structural drawings.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in report writing and project management.
  • Advanced computer literacy, in particular all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with excellent presentation skills.
  • Sound analytical skills and the ability to think laterally.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking outside of the box delivering alternative outcomes.
  • Must reside, or be willing to relocate to the Goldfields region
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months
  • Unencumbered Western Australian “C” class licence.

Preferred

  • Experience in a gold or mineral processing environment
  • Experience in pumping and pipeline design
  • Post graduate studies in Project Management.
  • Financial analysis (NPV, IRR, basic accounting, etc).

External Relations Officer - 12 month fixed term

THE ROLE

We have a twelve month fixed term full time opportunity in our External Relations team, based in Kalgoorlie on site at KCGM. Our External Relations Officer is a key role in internal and external communications and community activities to assist our relationships within KCGM, the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community, important stakeholders and regulatory bodies. The purpose of the role is to achieve communications that continue acceptance of KCGM as a community partner and responsible corporate citizen.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Sustainability and External Relations Department’s Strategic Plan ensuring internal and external message direction is aligned with operational and strategic requirements.
  • Coordinate external messaging and assist in the implementation of the KCGM’s Stakeholder Engagement Plan.
  • Coordinate and contribute to all external KCGM publications, including information sheets, fliers, letter drops and notifications.
  • Proactively increase KCGM’s presence in the local media through development of media releases, media tours, and oversee all media monitoring.
  • Oversee all external electronic communication including social media and the KCGM website.
  • Manage the KCGM Super Pit Lookout, including planned upgrades and ensuring ongoing maintenance is undertaken.
  • Respond to and coordinate public and VIP tour requests, including liaising with relevant internal stakeholders as required.
  • Oversee the contract with KCGM’s external tour provider, ensuring the contract conditions are upheld.
  • Contribute to KCGM’s Community Investment Program by developing effective relationships with community organisations, assisting with sponsorship applications, promoting existing and future partnerships and providing administrative support to the program.
  • Contribute to internal publications including The Golden Mile Post, intranet and electronic signage.
  • Receive and respond to enquiries from the general public through the Public Interaction Line and KCGM website, and enter all data into the Cintellate system to identify future opportunities for community engagement.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly reports on public enquiries, notable tours and events.
  • Contribute to KCGM initiated community events and company involvement in community initiated events, e.g. St Barbara’s Day and Boulder Market Day, to maintain a positive company relationship the local community

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A tertiary qualification in Community/Public Relations, Media, Communications or similar discipline
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a Community or Public Relations role

Dispatch Operator

THE ROLE

The Dispatch Operator coordinates the optimisation of people and equipment involved in Load and Haul activities in the Fimiston Open Pit and surrounding waste dumps by efficiently integrating maintenance requirements with mining and operational requirements to achieve set production targets in a timely and safe manner according to KCGM policies, standards and procedures.

This role primarily involves working in an office based environment located on the pit edge. The position works on a continuous roster. It works within a high pressurized environment where incumbents in this role are expected to monitor the telephone, radio and dispatch system and deal with ad hoc duties. Incumbents in this role predominantly act as senior operators in supervisors or senior operators’ absences and as such are expected to possess leadership qualities and competencies.

Incumbents in this role are expected to transfer within the various crews if required by Management.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience operating machinery in an open pit mining or quarry
  • Excellent knowledge of load and haul process and good knowledge of overall mining sequence
  • Ability to think strategically and to react appropriately to unplanned maintenance, manning or any other issues to ensure mining sequence and daily targets are adhered to as required
  • Exposure to a range of workplace safety systems
  • Intermediate computer literacy with ability to use integrated management systems, spreadsheet applications and word processing software
  • Ability to influence team members actions by coaching and mentoring
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months

Project Exploration Geologist

THE ROLE

To manage existing KCGM tenements, complete geological interpretations and design and supervise the execution of exploration programs / projects that add value to existing resources extending the KCGM Life of Mine.

The successful applicant will provide leadership through the coaching and mentoring of Exploration Geologists and Geotechnicians, and promote a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Values.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience as an Exploration Geologist.
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, Vulcan, Leapfrog and ioGAS software or equivalent programs.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Excellent written (report writing) and verbal communication skills.

Supply Officer

THE ROLE

The Business and Administration Department is responsible for the provision of business and administration support and services to all employees of KCGM including Supply Chain Management (Purchasing, Warehouse and Contracts), Information, Communication & Technology and Finance functions.

The Supply Officer role is based in our Warehouse team and responsible for processing the receipt, storage and distribution of all goods to KCGM, in a timely and accurate manner to meet customer requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience within a Warehouse/Supply position

This position will see you operating a variety of mobile plant, for example truck and nipper, establishing and maintaining underground services, as well as provide generic labouring assistance to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.

  • Minimum eighteen (18) months experience operating Underground Trucks (Atlas MT5010 preferred)
  • Exposure to the operation of Integrated Tool Carriers and other underground machinery
  • Dangerous Goods Security Card

THE ROLE:

This position will see you drilling blast holes and installation of ground support for underground tunneling to ensure underground production targets are attained or exceeded in a safe and effective manner.

  • Extensive all-round underground operating experience

Expressions of Interest - Geotechnician

THE ROLE:

If you are interested in joining the Mining Technical Services Team in the position of Geotechnician in the future, register for this EOI pool.

This technical support role involves working as part of a team to collect and process geological samples from the Fimiston Open Pit to ensure the provision of timely and accurate data for analysis by the KCGM Geologists.

This role is suitable for someone with a relatively small amount of mining experience with good analytical skills who is looking for an opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to a team who play a unique and crucial part of production in the Superpit.

Geotechnician roles will typically be offered on a Fixed Term contract-basis.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferably, two (2) years’ experience working in Geotechnical or Geology support roles within Open Pit operations
  • Higher Education in progress towards a Mining Engineering, Surveying, Metallurgy, Geology highly regarded
  • Excellent communication skills across a diverse group of people
  • Excellent Computer literacy required, Vulcan Software Skills extremely beneficial

THE ROLE:

As a Process Technician you will undertake daily general plant activities in the Fimiston Mineral Processing Plant. This will include monitoring and maintaining assigned operations and equipment within the plant to optimize circuit availability and gold recovery, safely and efficiently.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar Process technician or Utilities technician position
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets
  • High Risk Licences (LF, LS, WP) highly regarded but not essential
  • Developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Must reside locally within the Goldfields region

THE ROLE:

This EOI Talent Pipeline is for applicants interested in positions within the Crusher area of KCGM’s Mineral Processing plant. The role encompasses both Truck Operating CAT 777’s and  Stickpicking. Working an even-time continuous 7/7 roster, these positions are vital for ensuring that contaminant free ore is delivered to the crusher for processing, in addition to transporting various materials across site.

Successful employees will experience a variety of operating trucks, machinery, stick picking and other general labouring activities to assist in the Mineral Processing function of KCGM’s Superpit.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience operating trucks (777’s, 785’s, 793’s) or other heavy equipment in a mining environment
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Strong safety focus and work ethic
  • Must enjoy a variety of in-cab operating plus outdoor activity

KCGM Shotfirer’s carry out the Open Pit charging and blasting activities for our Mining Department, and are responsible for the safe assembly, positioning and detonating of explosives in accordance with our safety regulations and blast plans.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience on a blast crew as a Shotfirer in an Open Pit environment
